G20 nations to ensure that food value chains are not disrupted during COVID-19 pandemic

The Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), QU Dongyu, has urged leaders from the G20 (Group of 20) countries to take measures for global food systems to continue to work well, particularly in relation to access to food for the world's poor and most vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Qu made his appeal in an online address from Rome to the G20 Extraordinary Virtual Leaders' Summit on COVID-19, held on March 26.

Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the summit which was called to forge a coordinated global response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its human and economic implications.
